About

The Market on Main’s goal is simple: bring everything great about Akron into one place. We are a warm and friendly place to meet a friend for your favorite espresso and fresh baked good.  We also provide local artisans and vendors a place to sell their products. You would be remiss if you didn’t buy yourself some chocolates or other unique items.

Whether you’re just passing through or staying for a while, you’ll find our village to be a local jewel. We hope you make Akron one of your WNY destinations!

OUR STORY

In 2017, when Mike and Rosie’s Country Market was about to close, Brian and Jayne Perry purchased the business to keep the storefront open with a vision to use the store as a way to give back to the community by:

1. Giving students of the Akron Central School Business Department their first chance at creating and selling a product, and having the profits of their sales go towards college scholarships.

2. Giving local artisans a place to sell their goods.

3. Offering a local gathering spot to meet a friend for coffee and conversation.

The Perry’s approached the (now-retired) principal of Akron High School, Mr. Joe Lucenti, about involving students in the Business department at the high school with our store, and a partnership was forged. Akron business teacher Karen Saeli maintained the partnership between the Market and the High School. The business students created the original logo and website for the market.

As of June of 2025, the school has decided to go another direction with the business students offering them a vocational business learning experience. Brian’s vision has enabled dozens of students the opportunity to learn hands on business skills while awarding nearly $10,000 in scholarships over an eight year period. We are proud to have had such an impact on the past and future of business entrepreneurship programs.
